Though variables such as weather play a part in the process, here is a basic
step-by-step guide to the pool building process.
Planning
Before any work begins, your pool professional will help you decide on a style
and construction plan. Find information on pool types here. (LINK THAT TO POOL
TYPES PAGE) Whether you choose a custom design or standard shape, a complete
plan will be laid out for you before any digging begins. Don’t be afraid to ask
questions or voice concerns to the project manager in charge of your job.
Excavation and Wall Construction
The first step will be to prepare the site for your pool. Depending on
the pool style you choose, this may include excavation and forming a steel wall
or other reinforcement, as well as adding dirt, gravel or other material to
help smooth out the floor and sides of the pool.
Interior, Plumbing and Electrical
At this point, the builder places the liner or adds the
gunite/concrete pool surface. When the interior is complete, the builder
installs the coping around the edge of the pool and finalizes plumbing and
electrical work.
Add Water and Enjoy
When basic construction is complete, water is added and work on the
deck surrounding the pool is done. Landscapers usually take over at this point
to complete your backyard paradise.
